Brownies Take Action - Our Hometown Heroes

Here are some of our Brownies on their deliveries for their Take Action Project!
More to come!!!

Baking with Brownies and Juniors

This weekend our Brownies and Juniors came together to do a little holiday baking! Brownies were participating in their Take Action Project by baking cookies and then delivering them to some local Hometown Heroes.

Leaders were on hand to supervise and our Junior girls assisted the Brownies in prepping and baking. Juniors showed great leadership and Brownies showed amazing teamwork.

While the cookies were baking, the girls also made Thank You cards to be delivered along with the delicious cookies.

Once the cookies were fresh out of the oven, the girls packaged them in boxes. Finally they took "action" by delivering them to a local Hometown Hero. Heroes included doctors, nurses, police, firefighters, and military.

We want to give a HUGE thank you to Ms. Kristina for hosting our event!!!

Investiture

On Friday, November 9th, our girls celebrated their Investiture Ceremony with their Girl Scout sisters and close family and friends. Most of our girls were rededicated but we also welcomed some wonderful girls new to Girl Scouts and our troop by giving them their pin.

Our ceremony was prepared and led by Cadettes and Juniors. Daisies and Brownies also preformed a couple of songs. Our leaders were extremely proud of ALL the girls as they pledge to continue to help their world a better place by following all aspect of the Girl Scout Law!

11/2 Meeting

This was our last meeting before our girls go on Thanksgiving break. We did a few "housekeeping" items and did a run through for our Investiture Ceremony, including making invitations.

We all turned in our Nut/Candy Sale money and decided (as a troop) to use the money for a sleep over trip to the Austin Children's Museum in January. Ms. Josie also announce our top Nut/Candy Sale earners.

Congratulations to our Top Seller, Arissa!

Our other top sellers were Alyssa and Kaliegh (picture coming soon!).

The girls then broke off into their troops to work on last minute preparations for our Investiture Ceremony. At the end of the meeting, our Cadetts brought the girls together to run them through the ceremony. We are really proud of our Cadetts as they planned out our program and showed great leadership!

The girls will not have a meeting next week. Instead the girls will be working on community service hours at home by creating placemats for the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner.

South Texas Maize - 11/2

On a beautiful fall evening, some of our girls got together for Family Night at The South Texas Maize. Other troops were out as well with their families enjoying all the fun at the maze. We even got to show off our new troop shirts for the first time!

The girl had fun answering Girl Scout questions to find their way through the maze. Luckily, we all made it out! They also got to ride a train that was pulled by a tractor and went on a night hay ride. During that hay ride the girl got to hear some interesting facts about the family that runs the maze and how it all got started.

Our first ever Troop #502 "Trunk or Treat" was a HUGE success!! We had some amazing trunks decorated, awesome parent participation and not to mention some really fantastic costumes! The girls got to play some games that were led by our super Juniors and Cadetts while parents set up and decorated their trunks for trick or treating. Ms. Yolanda even led the girls in some line dances! This was a family event as Girl Scouts and their siblings got to participate. All ended well with buckets LOADED with treats (not tricks!). Girls that participated did earn a patch and left with some great memories.

The girls and their "date" enjoyed a fine dinner of spaghetti, took ghoulish pictures and danced the Monster Mash all night long! It was a beautiful evening with some frightening costumes and some freaky dance moves.
